Why doesn't my bid show up online after I bid?
The Bid History should show your bid as soon as it is entered. If it doesn't appear, you may be viewing an old version of the page. Try clicking your browser's "refresh" or "reload" buttons.
How will I know if my bid is no longer Winning?
We will send you an email when your bid is no longer Winning. However, there can be unpredictable delays in email transmission. We suggest that you regularly visit our Web site to check your bid history in the My Account section.
How will I know if I win?
We will notify you by email if you win; although you are responsible for determining if you have won by visiting the site and checking the status of your bid in My Account. The email will be automated and following the confirmation of the cash transfer Argos Clearance will send another confirmation email with details of collection.
How can I view all bids I've submitted?
Go to "My Account" and select "Bid history."
Why did a bid from earlier today beat my bid?
Bids retain the time when they are placed. Because we use time to break ties, if you placed a bid for the same Price and Quantity as an earlier Bidder, the other Bidder will win. It is to the Bidder's advantage to get an initial bid in as early as possible. However, if the Max Bid is raised later, the Timestamp is changed to reflect the new bid. We recommend that you make your bid using our Automatic (Proxy) Bidding functionality.
Can I submit a bid offline?
No. We only accept online bids.
What happens if I change my mind after bidding?
All bids are legally binding. If you are not 100% certain that you want to purchase the merchandise then please do not bid.
Can I view the merchandise I intend to bid for?
On occasions it may be possible to view merchandise. Please Email argosclearance@argos.co.uk with your details and the listing number you are interested in viewing.

What does A grade, A-, B+, B- and Untested Returns mean?
Product(s) for sale via the website fall into one of the following categories:
“A grade” - New unused stock: Please note that in some instances this stock may have been subject to previous distribution to stores within our network and subsequent recall to centralised distribution and may have been sat in warehouses and/or stores for some time. A small percentage of packaging may show some signs of transit with the occasional box having been opened. A small amount may have been viewed by customers in stores, and some products may even have been on display. All of these factors can in a small proportion of cases mean that product may have some missing packaging or could even potentially have marks on. Additionally when dealing with very large volume reverse flow and a human element it is also possible that some mistakes may be made in product inventory, hence our clauses around inventory quantities within these T&C’s. It is also not impossible that a store returning a product to a warehouse may on occasion wrongly classify a product, but we take reasonable care to ensure this isn’t a regular occurrence.
"A-" – Customer returns and ex display in virtually "As New" condition & complete with all accessories, or new stock with slightly distressed packaging.
"B+" – Customer returns in graded condition with minimal signs of use. Complete with accessories (may not have instruction books). Mostly in original boxes.
"B-" – Customer returns missing some accessories but working. More visible signs of use.
"Untested Returns" – This stock comprises of mixed products that are deemed unfit for resale. These will include:
1. Mostly returns from customers as “faulty” although no testing at store or warehouse has taken place. This product may be missing some accessories. Model changes could have occurred which may mean you receive a similar or same specification item. Packaging may be missing
2. Returns from customers under our 30 day money back guarantee policy that are technically OK but the packaging is damaged.
3. Products damaged in our own distribution or store processes. Products which cannot be resold following return either because they are personal care items such as shavers or digital storage devices. e.g. Digital cameras or MP3 players
4. All ‘Untested Returns’ sold by Argos through this website are sold on the condition that the merchandise will either be repaired, reworked or recycled by the purchaser to allow future resale to an end user, or alternatively will be resold as second hand in the same condition that it is purchased from Argos. This product is sold on the understanding that it will not be resold as ‘new’ and that any electrical products will be tested by a qualified electrician before resale.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Argos gives no warranty or representation of any kind, either express or implied, as to the quality, condition or fitness for purpose of the merchandise, nor is any warranty or representation to be taken to have been given or implied from anything said or written in negotiations with Argos or their representatives prior to purchase.
By purchasing ‘untested returns’ through this website you undertake to ensure that either you, or anybody subsequently purchasing some or all of this product from you with the intention of selling these products on to members of the public, fully comply with all current and future Waste Electrical & Electronic Equipment (WEEE) regulations & General Product Safety Regulations (GPSR), and that upon purchase of the merchandise from Argos you will indemnify Argos from all obligations with regards to final disposal or resale of the merchandise in line with both WEEE & GPSR regulations and any other such regulations that come into force as part of UK or EU law.
When you bid on an Auction, you can use Absolute Bidding if you want to bid your maximum immediately. The Minimum Bid displayed on the bidding page is the least amount you can bid. However, you can also enter a higher bid that reflects the maximum you're willing to pay for the item. Absolute bids are entered exactly as you type them. For example, if the current winning bid is £45.00 with a bid increment of £5.00, your minimum bid is £50.00. If you choose to bid £100.00 as an Absolute Bid, you will be winning with a new high bid of £100.00. Absolute Bids can be used to indicate strong interest in an item and to signal your intention to win to others.
What is a Maximum (Proxy) bid?
When you bid on an Auction, you can use our Automatic Bidding process. The Minimum Bid displayed on the bidding page is the least amount you can bid. However, you can also enter a higher bid that reflects the maximum you're willing to pay for the item. If you choose to make it a Proxy Bid, this amount is kept confidential from other Bidders. Our Automatic Bidding software then enters the lowest possible Winning Bid for you. If another Buyer bids (in real time or by Proxy), your bid will be automatically raised until you are Winning or until you have reached your maximum.
You will receive an email whenever any bid you make is losing due to another Bidder. The email will have a link back to the listing, or you can find your bid by accessing your Bidding Activity. You can then Increase your bid by clicking on either the Bid No. or the Description, and enter your new Maximum Bid amount when the Bidding page displays.
Example: Opening Price is £36.00, Bid Increment £4.00.
Click "Bid Now"
On the Bid Entry page, enter Max Bid: £60.00
Click Submit. The next page confirms your bid.
Your Current Bid is: £36.00
Click Submit. The system processes your bid.
You are winning at: £36.00
You will also receive a Bid Confirmation via email.
If another Bidder comes along, the process may look like this:
On the Bid Entry page, enter Max Bid: £52.00
Click Submit. The next page confirms your bid.
The Current Bid is: £40.00
Click Submit. The system processes the bid.
Second Bidder is losing at: £52.00
You are winning at: £56.00
This Bidder's bid was maxed out because your first bid (£60.00) is higher. You are therefore now Winning at one increment above their Max Bid: £56.00.
Bids are given precedence based on sort order of Price, Quantity, and then Time placed.
What happens if I bid in the last 2 minutes?
If you bid in the last 2 minutes of a listing, the close time will be extended 2 minutes.
